The Breast Augmentation Process and What to Expect
Breast augmentation surgery, much like any surgery is a serious decision to undertake and nobody is more aware than Dr Lisa, of the anxiety that such a decision may cause. As a female plastic surgeon, Dr Lisa understands the nature of the procedure and the impact different breast sizes can have with regards to a woman’s femininity. During your initial consultation with Dr Lisa, she may ask you about your reasons for wanting breast augmentation surgery and what your expectations of the procedure are. We will then use the relevant information to gain an insight into your situation and discuss the various treatment options with you to the find the one that suits you best.
Selecting your implant is vital to the process and they are available in different shapes, sizes and materials. The decision can be a tricky one, but Dr Lisa will be with you every single step of the way to ensure that the results surpass your expectations. She will allow you to feel and to see the different implants before your surgery so that you can gain a better understanding of the shape and size of your new breasts.
Things to Consider About Breast Augmentation Surgery
Shape, Size and Placement
Also known as a boob job or breast enhancement surgery, breast augmentation surgery requires that you think very clearly about the shape and size you wish to achieve with the procedure. The size of the implants themselves, their shape, the materials that are used to create them and the incision placement and technique are all things that you will need to discuss at length with Dr Lisa, so she can decide on the best course of action.
Breast augmentation surgery has a relatively short recovery period which you should factor into any decision regarding the procedure. The healing time of any prospective patient will change, but usually, breast augmentation patients can expect to be able to return to work about a week after.
Directly following your surgery, you will also be instructed to wear what is known as a ‘compression garment’ which will offer added support to your breast and prevent them moving around and placing unnecessary stress on them.
Additionally, we urge you to stay well clear of any rigorous physical exercise and activities for at least the first four weeks after your surgery in order to give your body enough time to heal properly.
