What is a mummy makeover?
A mummy makeover is a combination of procedures that assist in sculpting and enhancing your body to your desired shape.
The procedure will generally include;

- Breast augmentation (to restore lost volume)

Breast shape and abdominal contour are two of the most common changes that occur following breastfeeding and childbirth. When the breast shape and abdominal contour is addressed, a dramatic enhancement in your whole body shape can be achieved.

Plastic surgery after pregnancy or weight loss
Pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as significant weight loss often leave breasts looking deflated and saggy. Correction of the breast contour often involves restoring breast volume with breast implants (breast augmentation). For patients who have breast ptosis (sagging), a breast lift (mastopexy) procedure is performed to restore upper pole fullness and re-position the nipple/areola complex to a more youthful position.
A combination approach
Dr Lisa can perform a breast augmentation in conjunction with a breast lift, referred to as an augmentation mastopexy. This transformative procedure can increase breast volume, re-position the nipple/areola complex and breast tissue to a more central location.
It is common for abdominal contour to change dramatically after childbirth, including residual abdominal tissue. Generally, this is often combined with an element of abdominal muscle separation, which will be persistent despite regular exercise. This may be a factor for stubborn fat despite all efforts to lose pregnancy weight. Dr Lisa typically performs liposuction or a tummy tuck procedure to address these concerns.
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedure will assist by removing any excess skin and fat from the abdominal region as well as correcting the underlying muscle separation.
Liposuction works to remove stubborn pockets of fat around your hips, abdomen, stomach, thighs, arms, or chin.
Time is a major factor when it comes to planning your procedure and as they say, good things take time. Below we explore the details of a mummy makeover journey and what to expect during recovery.
The estimated stay in hospital is generally 3-5 days. The day after your surgery, you’ll be able to walk and slowly begin to introduce regular activities over the next 2 weeks. Following your hospital discharge, you will return to the clinic approximately 5-7 days later to be reviewed.
It is quite common to experience bruising along both breast and abdominal incision lines, which will subside over 2 weeks. You should allow for 3 weeks recovery before you return to work. If your work is relatively sedentary you may return after 2 weeks. It is recommended that you don’t drive for the first 2 weeks after surgery. As well as avoid any strenuous activities for around 4 weeks to minimise potential bleed, bruising or swelling.
Typically, you will see the final results at your 3-month post-operative mark, as it can take this long for any residual swelling to completely resolve.
