Liposuction

Liposuction Sydney

Do you have stubborn pockets of fat around your hips, abdomen, stomach, thighs, arms, or chin which simply will not budge no matter how well you eat, or how much you exercise? Dr Lisa Friederich offers her patients liposuction as a surgical solution to help you achieve the definition you desire.

Liposuction is a procedure to remove fat cells from the body. Once these cells have been removed, they cannot grow back. The fat is removed by suction through a cannula which is inserted under the skin through very small incisions. An ideal candidate for this procedure is someone who is already in good health, but simply needs a little extra help to stubborn pockets of fat, which may be caused by their genetics.

While the fat cells which are removed via liposuction will not grow back, it must be noted that this procedure is not a replacement for future diet and exercise; it is still possible for the fat cells which remain in your body to grow, allowing you to regain weight. Liposuction is also not a cure for obesity or cellulite.

Liposuction FAQs

The time required to complete your liposuction will depend on the areas being treated, and the unique surgery plan decided on by you and Dr Lisa. Typically it will take between one and two hours.

Dr Lisa will make every effort to place the incisions for the cannula in inconspicuous locations, but you will have some small scars as a result of the surgery. Normally these are very small, and should fade with time.

The recovery time for liposuction will vary from patient to patient, and is also dependent on the area or areas treated. Dr Lisa will be able to advise you of the approximate downtime based on your unique plan. Most people are able to return to work about a week after the treatment, and you should be able to resume other normal activities in the subsequent weeks.
