A natural part of ageing as a female is the drooping of breast tissue. This can simply be a natural progression, or it may be accelerated through pregnancy and breastfeeding, or even through weight loss. Through breast lift surgery, Dr Lisa Friederich can help you to return to a more youthful form.
Also known as a mastopexy, breast lift surgery can improve the position and shape of your breasts in ways such as:
- Restoring a more youthful and balanced breast shape and projection
- Removing excess/loose skin and re-elevating the position of the breasts
- Repositioning of the nipple
Your breast lift journey
Depending on your unique circumstances and goals, breast implants or breast reduction may also be used in conjunction with your breast lift surgery. At your initial consultation with Dr Lisa Friederich you will discuss your concerns and goals at length, before Dr Lisa will make recommendations on the best course of action to help you achieve the result you desire. Your medical history and future plans will also be taken into consideration at this time. If you are considering having children in the future, you may wish to delay this surgery until after this as pregnancy and breastfeeding can have an impact on your results.
Depending on your circumstances and how much lift is required, Dr Lisa may employ one of three different incision techniques to perform your breast lift surgery. These include:
- Around the areola/nipple
- Around the areola/nipple, and then down the breast vertically
- Around the areola/nipple, then down the breast vertically and horizontally across the crease under the breast
While the exact length of time required to complete your surgery is very much dependent on your unique plan, in general this procedure takes between two and three hours to complete.
Due to the nature of this surgery it is inevitable that you will be left with some scarring following your breast lift surgery. However, Dr Lisa makes every effort to place these scars as inconspicuously as possible, and these should fade with time.
You should find you are able to return to work about one week following your breast lift surgery, though you will need to abstain from strenuous activities for three to four weeks. Every patient’s recovery journey will be slightly different.
No. Every patient will have a different breast lift surgery journey. Dr Lisa Friederich will spend substantial time with you to create a unique plan to perfectly address your unique needs and goals. As a female plastic surgeon, she well understands your feelings, and wants to ensure each and every patient is comfortable and confident about their surgery.
While you should not have any problems breastfeeding following breast lift surgery, it may be best to delay this surgery if you think pregnancy and breastfeeding are still in your future; these can have an impact on your outcomes from breast lift surgery.
